On April 23, the 3rd CirLab session took place in Jonava, bringing together representatives from business, the public sector, the municipality, and researchers from Kaunas University of Technology (Lina Dagilienė, Jurgita Bruneckienė and Visvaldas Varžinskas) to discuss the development of the circular economy in urban contexts.
The event was organized in collaboration with Jonava District Municipality. During the session, participants explored key aspects of circular transition:
- Circular business models and value propositions, along with the essential capabilities companies need to develop in order to transition successfully.
- Practical experiences from Jonava District Municipality, demonstrating how local collaborative initiatives can effectively promote circular economy principles within the city.
- Insights from the ECLECTIC project, emphasizing the critical role of collaboration and data in improving coordination between different stakeholders and sectors.
- Findings from a study on public sector organizations, focusing on the assessment of material and energy flows and identifying opportunities for more efficient resource use. Practical advice was shared on product selection, energy efficiency, and waste management.
- Examples of best circular economy practices across Europe that could be adapted and applied in local contexts.
The discussion highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and practical implementation tools in advancing circular economy solutions at the city level.
