Dr. Lina Dagilienė, dr.Viktorija Varaniūtė and PhD Justina Banionienė presented the research „Developing decision-making logics framework for manufacturing companies to support the circular economy“ results in EURAM-2021 conference “Reshaping capitalism for a sustainable world” (16-18 June, 2021), in AOM 2021 conference “Bringing the manager back in management” (29 July – 4 August, 2024) and in BAM 2021 conference “Recovering from Covid: Responsible Management and Reshaping the Economy” (31 August – 3 September, 2021). The circular economy as an opposite to the linear mindset is an opportunity for organizations to be environmentally sustainable while still being profitable. The paper explores what motivates manufacturing companies to shift towards the circular economy and how they might follow different decision-making logics. We identify three types of decision-making logics, namely institutional, instrumental and integrative, that often coexist within the same company. In addition, decision making for the circular economy leads to tensions, such as leadership versus copying, long versus short run, integrated versus isolated activities, product versus waste management.
