Why does it matter?
For the development of a circular economy, the positive and binding policy context at international and national levels is created. Recent research demonstrates that a successful move towards a circular economy is possible by applying the principle of co-operation between stakeholders, emphasizing the involvement of state institutions, city municipalities and enterprises in solving the problems of the circular economy. However, there is a lack of comprehensive research on the challenges and opportunities facing companies in Lithuania. Moreover, to date, there is lack of researches providing a comprehensive assessment of the benefits of closed-loop business models and their impact on key economic indicators in Lithuania. Aim of the project is to evaluate the main challenges and opportunities to achieve the goals of the circular economy in Lithuania. The main focus is on textile and apparel sector. The project will identify the circular economy impact on Lithuanian economy and environment, as well as identify the challenges that manufacturing or business enterprises currently face for the transition toward a circular economy. Based on the results, the solutions and recommendations will be formulated in order to facilitate the transition toward circular economy in Lithuania.
